Crested Honey Buzzard

There are signs suggesting that they could be an older, basal type among the evolutionarily younger kites that evolved their respective characteristics later (DNA analysis would be needed to establish more). The honey buzzard feeds mainly on larvae of bees, wasps, on flying adults, honeycomb and honey. Thai/Burmese border (NP)

Lar Gibbon II

Nikkor 200-500 VR/TC 14 III @650mm, f8, ISO 1000; Nikon D750 The group appeared suddenly when I was photographing a tree (maybe they noticed we were chasing them for days through the jungle). The calls were getting closer and all of a sudden they fancied taking a look at the fellow below. I left my tripod standing and followed in the direction Zlatuse disappeared looking for a clear shot. Pointing the lens high up drains strength from your arm quickly and I relieved her briefly (looks like we brushed against the ring - 650mm reported).

Entry II

Nikkor 24/1.8G @f9, late afternoon sun lower in the sky; Nikon D600 The same place as in the previous shot. Progress is slow and openings to the caves easy to miss. Halfway to the tops, we were still coming across gaur tracks. It was surprising to see the massive bovine able to move through the sloping terrain of the jungle.

Northern Pigtail

Nikkor 200-500 VR/TC 14 III @700mm, f8, high ISO (4000)/short exposure picture; D750 Mother and child; both male and female about 1/3 smaller than the Southern Pig-tailed Macaque living in Borneo. Their fur is of a lighter brown colour with golden shades. Seen mostly in primary forests passing in groups through the cover, at various activities and sleeping on wide-spreading branches at night.

Siamese Crocodile

Although it still lives with us today this view won’t be possible for much longer. The species is on the brink of extinction. A single non-breeding NP resident (quite aggressive).
