King William Saddle

The range divides the West high rainfall region (2500 mm per year) from the East that spreads beyond the saddle further eastwards.
It's a much drier climate typical of eucalypt forest and buttongrass vegetation in what can be described as a half rain shadow compared to the wet west.
The dry tree zones are regular characteristic of bushfires aftermath in Tasmanian wilderness.
