The Himalaya
Nikkor 24/1.8G @f8, noon; Nikon D600 Arctic landscape of flats at 4000 m. The peak ahead a little further is a hundred m short of 8000; the one on the right side partly shrouded in clouds reaches over 8000. It’s just noon, the view will be covered with clouds soon. Every 20-25 min. on average a distinct rumble pointed to an avalanche ripping through the cliffs in the distance.
Nikkor 24/1.8G @f8, sunrise, 3600 m; Nikon D600 It was for the second time we trekked to 4000 m (dropping as low as 1800 m), now that the October was drawing to a close we were getting frost and a little of snowfall/sleet at nights. The permanent snow line is at 4800 m. We spent a couple of days here because of the place/people and small trips to the side valleys before trekking back to a couple of hundreds m in the tropical zone.
