Stars And Lilies
Sigma 50A @f10, Brittle Stars and Sea Lilies, N.H. Museum; D600
This positive shows slice of time.
Days were a little shorter than today, the Moon a little closer and the continents were different lands.
The lilies and stars got buried under the sand. We can’t speculate what caused the sudden rush of the sand but it had its cause and it could be an interesting one. The sea here was shallow and the temperatures tropical (today’s Dorset). Some stars attempted to climb their way out from the trap. Using the lilies stem for support as the Sculptor Nature recorded in this carving some 185 million years ago.
