Tasmanian Pademelon

Nikkor 24-120/4 @120mm, f4, 1/25; D7000
A Macropod species endemic to Tasmania, typical for its thicker fur and nocturnal activity.
This portrait wasn’t too difficult as this individual animal was used to people and not exactly at peak of its activity.
It was shot not far from a small camp in Corrina. Overall wildlife in Tasmania is noticeably more abundant compared to the mainland Australia's average.
At places you can still get a feeling what the large numbers of wildlife meant in the past. Especially very early morning and at night.
Unfortunately you won’t find anywhere so many roadkill as well.
It is just almost unavoidable although most drivers here are very considerate. Each animal here has its widely used road sign.
