15 Wollumbi

Or more often Wollomombi (the first one is aboriginal form of the English ‘Meeting of Waters’).
The trees in the foreground are part of Anaiwan people land while the opposite side is and was a territory used by Dungutti people.
Meeting of several rivers and creeks takes place in this ancient millions of years old gorge (270 m deep).
It is one of the important places to Aboriginal people around Northern Tablelands that along with Dangars Gorge and other gorges was a meeting place as well as a part of the boundaries between their ancestral groups.
I was standing here alone with my wife staring into the gorge for the third time during our journey.
The mists scattered just before the nightfall. The sign of Meeting showed one more time.
We still traveled east and south but we were on our ‘way back’ from this minute. We said Goodbye here.
